All the testosterone in your blood, both the fraction bound to proteins and the small part that is free.

It is the standard first test, and most of what people mean when they talk about testosterone levels.

It follows a daily rhythm and is highest in the early morning, so a diagnosis rests on two morning samples rather than one afternoon one. Because most of it is bound to SHBG, the total can look normal while the active fraction is not -- which is why SHBG is measured with it. The shipped band is an adult-male one.
