Blood calcium is held in a narrow band by parathyroid hormone and vitamin D, so a value outside it says something about that control system rather than about your diet.
About half of it is bound to albumin, so a low albumin drags the total down without any real change; labs often print a corrected value for this reason. A tight tourniquet raises it slightly.
Worth discussing a raised value, which matters more than a low one, together with PTH.
